Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most — about Ayurveda, yoga, sessions, booking and more. If something is missing, we are always glad to help personally.
These answers are written to give you a clear, honest sense of what to expect. You will not find hype here — only thoughtful guidance to help you decide whether, and how, to begin.
Understanding Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing that originated in India. The word means the science of life. It offers personalised guidance on diet, daily rhythm, herbs, movement and rest — all tailored to your unique mind-body constitution. At Aayu Laxmi, Ayurveda is offered as a complementary, lifestyle-based approach to support your overall wellbeing alongside any medical care you receive. Please see our disclaimer for more detail.
A dosha is the Ayurvedic term for the energies that shape your unique constitution — Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Most people are a blend of two or three. You do not need to know your dosha before we meet; identifying it together is part of your consultation. From there, we tailor food, lifestyle and practices that suit you, rather than a generic plan.
Not in the way you might fear. Ayurveda is not about rigid restriction. We work with small, sustainable adjustments — timing, combinations, preparation and seasoning — that gently bring your digestion into balance. Pleasure and nourishment belong together, and most clients find they enjoy food more, not less.
Many people feel lighter and more settled within the first one to two weeks of simple changes. Deeper, lasting shifts in energy, digestion and sleep typically unfold over a few months of consistent practice. Ayurveda works gently and cumulatively — we are building sustainable rhythm, not quick fixes.
The Practices
Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, is a guided lying-down practice that brings the body into deep rest while the mind stays quietly aware. A single session can leave you feeling as restored as hours of sleep. Over time it helps calm the nervous system, ease tension, improve sleep and create a profound sense of inner stillness.
Not at all. Private yoga is designed for you, exactly as you are today. Whether you are a complete beginner, returning after a break, or working with stiffness and limitations, every session is adapted to your body, energy and goals. There is nothing to achieve — only to meet yourself with kindness.
Yoga Nidra shares qualities with both, but is its own distinct practice. Unlike seated meditation, you lie down and are guided through stages of awareness. You remain conscious and in full control throughout — it is not hypnosis, and you will not lose awareness. Most people describe it as deeply restful and effortless.
How & Where We Meet
Yes. Ayurveda consultations, Yoga Nidra and private yoga sessions are all available online via secure video, as well as in person. Many clients find online sessions just as effective — you are guided from the comfort of your own home. Workshops and retreats are held in person at curated venues.
Very little: a quiet space, a device with a camera, and a stable internet connection. For yoga, have a mat and a cushion or blanket nearby; for Yoga Nidra, somewhere comfortable to lie down. We will send a simple preparation note before each session so you know exactly what to expect.
In-person sessions take place at our studio in Your City, in a calm, private space designed for rest and reflection. Full address details and directions are shared when you book. For workshops and retreats, we meet at carefully selected venues, which are confirmed at the time of booking.

The simplest way is through our Contact page — send us a message or use the Calendly link to pick a time. You can also call or message us on WhatsApp. If you are unsure where to begin, book a complimentary 15-minute discovery call and we will help you choose the right starting point.
Pricing varies by service — single consultations, packages, private yoga, workshops and retreats each have their own rates. We share clear, current pricing on request so we can recommend the option that best fits your needs. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details before booking.
We understand life happens. Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge. Cancellations within 24 hours or missed appointments may be charged at the full rate. Full terms, including for workshops and retreats, are outlined in our Terms & Conditions.
Gatherings & Getaways
Everyone is welcome — from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Workshops are intimate group immersions in Ayurveda, breathwork, meditation and seasonal living. Retreats offer a longer, deeper reset in a serene setting. Each event notes any specific focus so you can choose what suits you.
Retreats typically include guided yoga and Yoga Nidra, Ayurvedic meals and consultation time, meditation, and quiet space for rest — all within carefully chosen, restful accommodation. Exact inclusions vary by retreat and are listed with each event. Travel to the venue is usually separate unless stated.
Yes. We create bespoke workshops for private groups — friends, families, teams or special gatherings — tailored to your theme and occasion. Share your vision through the Contact page and we will design something memorable for your group.
Giving the Gift of Wellness
Gift certificates can be put toward any Aayu Laxmi offering — an Ayurveda consultation, Yoga Nidra, private yoga, a workshop or a retreat. They are a thoughtful way to share wellbeing with someone you love. See our Gift Certificates page for available values and details.
Gift certificates are valid for twelve months from the date of purchase, giving the recipient plenty of time to choose the offering that suits them. Full terms are provided with each certificate and outlined on our Gift Certificates page.
